Pizza in Covent Garden: Gracey's at Arcade on Bedford Street

Covent Garden has no shortage of places to eat, but finding great pizza in the middle of it all used to mean a gamble. Since May 2026, there's been a new option a couple of minutes from the Piazza: Gracey's, cooking East Coast pizza inside Arcade Covent Garden on Bedford Street.

The news: a 19th-century building becomes London's newest food hall

When Arcade Covent Garden opened on 15 May, it was the third London food hall from Arcade, the group backed by JKS Restaurants. The building has history. It's a former TGI Fridays that once housed a 19th-century department store, now turned into a 12,000 sq ft space with 385 covers, a listening bar, a café and a line-up of kitchens.

Gracey's was named among the opening line-up as the pizza kitchen serving New York and New Haven styles. For us, it was the next step after Battersea Power Station and Centre Point, and a long way from where we started: a pizza oven and a gazebo in St Albans during lockdown.

Why Gracey's pizza is different

Most pizza in Covent Garden is Neapolitan: soft, puffy and cooked in 90 seconds. Ours isn't. Gracey's is inspired by the pizzerias of New Haven, Connecticut, where pizza is baked longer for a thin, crisp, chewy base with plenty of char.

  • Thin and crunchy. A crust that holds up to its toppings and doesn't flop.

  • Long baked. Our pies spend several minutes in the oven, not 90 seconds.

  • Red sauce first. San Marzano tomatoes, garlic and oregano are the backbone of the menu.

  • East Coast attitude. New York-inspired pies sit alongside the New Haven classics.

What to order at Gracey's Covent Garden

If it's your first visit, start with a red sauce pie. The Plain Tom (tomato, thinly sliced garlic, Sicilian oregano and basil) is the purest test of a New Haven pizzeria, and it's vegan. The Smokey Ron, with smoked pepperoni and aged parmesan, is the one people come back for. Our London kitchens have their own menus and prices, so check at the counter for the day's line-up.
